MINISTER FOR INNOVATION AND TOURISM INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT AND MINISTER FOR THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES

Welcome

MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND AND MINISTER FOR TOURISM

Welcome to the Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge and Campdraft in this special Year of Outback Tourism – a celebration of the wonders, and wonderful people, of Western Queensland.

You are in for a unique Outback experience.

This thrilling competition showcases the talent and passion of horsemen and women from across the country.

Tourism is important to Cloncurry and the Outback in general. The industry is already worth more than $350 million and supports 3700 jobs across the region. The Queensland Government is delighted to be working with organisations like the Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge and Campdraft Association Inc to see these numbers continue to grow.

Through our Year of Outback Tourism Events Program, a total of $3 million in grants to support new and established events is being allocated to local governments, event promoters, community organisations and businesses across Outback Queensland.

With four rounds of grants in all, there is a lot happening this year and next to entice Queenslanders, and interstate and overseas visitors, to head out west.

Thank you for heeding the call and sharing in the adventure!

We hope you enjoy the Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge and Campdraft, along with everything else Cloncurry has to offer, in this year dedicated to a truly magical part of Queensland.

Share your snaps, tell your friends, and make plans to head back to the Outback.
