Don’t miss it!

The Curley Cattle Transport Classic Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge is primarily run over three days. The competition requires competitors to complete two demonstrations; the first is the ‘dry’ section. Competitors and their horses are to complete a pattern before two judges. In this pattern are manoeuvres such as flying changes, rollbacks, spins and stops. This pattern is designed to display the horse’s athleticism, ability and trainability whilst exhibiting the rider’s horsemanship.

The second demonstration is again before two judges, this time the horse and rider combination is required to work cattle in a manner similar to a campdraft course.

The ‘Classic Challenge Dry’ will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am in Merry Muster Arena, and the ‘Classic Challenge Wet’ being held at 8:30am Saturday in the Peter Abdy Arena. The grand finals will be on Saturday afternoon, subsequently after the grand parade and presentation of the finalists.  The ‘Classic Challenge Dry’ being held in the Merry Muster Arena at 2:30pm and the ‘Classic Challenge Wet’ held in the Peter Abdy Arena at 4pm.

The Curley Cattle Transport Classic Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge will carry a first prize minimum, of $10,000 plus generous trophy.

The Jim Telford Memorial Open Draft sponsored by Leichardt Hotel is completed in two rounds plus a final. Round 1 of the Open Draft will be held on Thursday at 11am and round 2 will be on Saturday at 7am, followed by the Final at 11am.

The Jim Telford Memorial Open Draft sponsored by Leichardt Hotel will carry a prize of $5,000 plus added entry paid to 6 places.
